Zoboomafoo First Aired 23 Years Ago Today!

The hit kids TV Show 'Zoboomafoo' first aired on PBS Kids 23 years ago today!

For many growing up in the late 90’s early 00’s Zoboomafoo was their first introduction to the Creature Adventures of the Kratt Brothers! Adventures took place at animal junction with Chris Kratt, Martin Kratt and of course their lemur friend Zoboomafoo. Each episode the Bros. and Zoboomafoo would learn about different animals through interacting with them at Animal Junction as well as via claymation segments.

The show was a huge success receiving a Daytime Emmy Award in 2001 for ‘Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Series’

The show has been off the air for over 20 years but fans across the world still remember the Bros, Zoboomafoo, and of course the incredibly catchy theme song!

Today marks the 23 anniversary since the very first episode aired on PBS KIDS on January 25th 1999.

Jovian who was the real-life sifaka lemur who played Zoboomafoo sadly passed away on November 10th, 2004 but is survived by his family members who are looked after over at Duke Lemur Center in North Carolina.

The Kratt Brothers may no longer be making Zoboomafoo but they continue their mission to educate and entertain children all about the wonders of the animal world through their latest show ‘Wild Kratts’ which has now been on the air for over 11 years! Wild Kratts is currently in early production on season 7.
